Arrogant man! Hand someone a law book and a horsehair wig, and he thinks he’s better than anyone else. Why does God test me so harshly? I take Mr. Geddes’s arm and hobble back to the witness box. Mr. Trevelyan stands before me like one of the devil’s henchmen.
