“Malicious libel,” he replies without emotion.
I can’t keep myself from laughing. The very idea that I libeled that woman is ridiculous. Mr. Carruthers looks taken aback. Surely he sees the absurdity of the situation. A disgraced lady missionary suing the Principal of Scottish College. Who could believe such a thing could happen?
