Jacob sat and poured himself a cup of tea. “It’s wonderful to see you, Sarah. I didn’t know if we would be able to speak before the America sets sail for India.”
Jacob’s eyes sparkled. “Shall I tell you how I shall make my fortune and become your official suitor?”
Sarah cleared her throat. “That would be most enlightening, I’m sure.”
“Here it is, then. I’m going to bring back an elephant from Calcutta.”
Sarah’s heart lurched. “An elephant! Aren’t elephants monstrous big? How will it fit on the ship?”
