“Precisely. I am quite fond of the Grand Turk. I was proud to build her, and proud to send her out. And in my pride, I failed to consider the true key to our business.”
“Which is?”
“To keep our options open and our investments diversified. Brigs and schooners are nimble. They can move quickly as conditions change, and if we lose one, we still have the other. The Grand Turk is the best ship I’ve ever built, but I shall leave her at New York and sell her as soon as her cargo is off-loaded.”
Eliza drew in a startled breath. “Are you sure?”
“Never more so.
