Richard reached out his hand. “I’ll take your logbook.”
“Did Sir promote you? He usually wants to see it first.”
“He’s busy with the new ship. Said I should start the accounting.”
Geordie squeezed his brother’s cheek. “Guess that means you’re a full partner now.”
“I always was, you buffoon. See the sign up there? It says “and Sons,” not “George the Second and Assorted Others.” Come on. I’ll drop your logbook on my desk and stand you for drinks at Ship Tavern.”
Geordie rubbed the back of his neck. “Not sure I’m welcome there. Had a little set-to with the owner’s son before I left.”
Richard raised his eyebrows. “Had your way with one of the barmaids?”
“In a manner of speaking. She was the owner’s cousin, or some such.”
“Who cares? Coin is coin, and Anna Shipman is always pleased to take mine.”
Geordie shrugged. “It’s probably all blown over by now.”
