“Rather a bad day, Father.” Elias grimaced. “An embarrassment for us all.”
“I’m aware.” Hasket poured another glass and sat down across from his son. “I had a word with Briggs.”
“I’m sure you did. Maybe the ship is jinxed. Perhaps our Turkish figurehead can’t swim and is afraid of the sea. A standard mermaid might have been a better choice.”
Hasket barked a laugh. “Leave it to you to find humor in the situation.”
