Mano bowed her head and changed the subject again. “Um, Mama, would you allow me to wear glasses again?”
“Are you unable to see?”
“I can make things out, but I get the most ferocious headaches.”
“You haven’t been praying enough.”
“I have!”
Rama prayed for patience. “Mano, I explained we must rely entirely on God. Infirmities come from a lack of faith. If you pray with a sincere heart, God will heal you.”
“But I’m not sick. I just have difficulty seeing. If glasses can help me, why can’t I use them?”
“No. You must rely on God, not inventions.”
Mano’s shoulders slumped. “Yes, Mama. I’ll keep praying.”
