Sundrabai, Rama's Christian colleague, quietly pushes Rama deeper into Christian activity. "Trust Christ," Sundrabai says. "Meet Rev. Pentecost. Go to his lectures." Now the students have an outing near the Bhima River. Sundrabai suggest they stay home and pray. I think Rama was reluctant to take that step, but couldn't refuse it. More students were attending morning prayer. Now Sundrabai urges an active step. A Christian retreat for those who wanted to learn more. Slowly, irrevocably, Rama moves towards a public Christian life. Her decision could destroy the school.

The next day Rama, Sundrabai, and twenty students waved farewell to their colleagues and went into the reception room to read the Bible, pray, and contemplate what Christ required of them. By the time their classmates returned, the students who had attended the prayer meeting expressed the desire to follow Christ and formed a Christian Endeavor Society to continue their inquiries. Rama placed a Bible, hymnbook, and cross inside a whitewashed room.
“This is your prayer room,” Rama announced. “You can come anytime, alone or with others.”
Later, alone in her own room Rama offered a prayer of thanksgiving for the day. “Thank you, Jesus, for using me to bring these girls into your care. Touch our hearts more deeply and strengthen us for the struggles we face.”
