Mano thought for a few minutes. “No, Mama. I’m sorry.”
Rama smiled broadly. “Today is the anniversary of our baptism. Can you remember? You were just a baby then. We went to the church at Wantage. The bishop gave you a lace handkerchief. I have it here.”
Rama held out a scrap of linen cloth.
“Can I keep it? I’ll put it in my treasure box.”
“Very well. You’re old enough to keep it safe.”
“Was Ajibai there?”
“Of course.”
