Rama waved her hand. “I’ve given you instructions. Go.”
The clerk rose, bowed, and saw himself out of the room. Mano pulled her mother’s sari.
“Mama?”
Rama handed Mano a doll. “What are we going to do, Mano? We’re birds with no nest.”
Mano handed the doll back to Rama. “Go outside,” the toddler demanded.
Rama pulled herself to a standing position and picked up Mano. “Outside it is.” Just not all the time, I hope.
