Unexpectedly Rama felt the hair on the back of her neck rise. Probably just a chill, she thought. Jasum brought Mano out, and Rama forgot about her premonition until later that evening.
Rama had just settled Mano on the large bed, arranging cushions so she wouldn’t roll off.
“Shall I tickle you?” Rama asked.
Mano began to laugh, waving her arms and kicking her legs. Rama kissed Mano’s toes, setting off a new round of giggles.
“What game is this?” Bipin entered the room. Rama turned. Behind Bipin she saw a shadow. For a moment, Rama’s heart stopped. Color drained from her face.
