Rama felt a chasm open in the pit of her stomach. “Srinivas, I can’t.”
“You will. Walk through the door and answer their questions. Don’t fail Father’s legacy.” Srinivas gave his sister a small shove.
“Go,” he hissed.
Rama hid her panic. For a moment she couldn’t move. Then a strange sense of calmness flowed through her body, as if Father gave his blessing from another world. Almost in a trance, Rama inhaled deeply and entered the room. Bright light streamed through five tall, slightly dingy windows. Rama’s eyes adjusted to see three men standing behind a long, wide table.
