Master Cole knocked twice on the office door and walked inside.
A man of medium height stood at the window holding a spy glass. “I’m just watching them offload some of your prize cargos.” The man turned with a slight smile. “Your report says you commandeered sheep guts and butter from one of your prizes. What became of those?”
“Eh, we offloaded them in Bilboa. I didn’t think they could last the journey.”
“Probably not.” Hasket Derby chuckled and extended his hand. “Who’s this you’ve brought?”
“A very resourceful lad, Nathaniel West. You know his father, William. He’s sailed a few vessels for ye.”
“I do. So, Nathaniel, what brings you to my counting house?”
