Life is full of choices, decisions, memories, photographs, and—most importantly—love. When life is moving at full tilt, there's not always time to reflect on those everyday occurrences. Retirement allows us the time and presence of mind to sit down and take stock. That's just what the writers in Memories & Musings did.
Written by "vintage" Minnesotans from The Guided Autobiography and poetry classes at Whitney Senior Center, their stories and poems are a collection of life's journey and the many paths taken. Inside, you'll find writing submissions that explore:
Paths into creative writing
Trails and tracks in nature
Pathways of family members
Passages through life's journey
This anthology will make you think, laugh, and cry at the peculiar human condition we all find ourselves living. So, pour a mug of tea or coffee—maybe settle in with a glass of wine—and savor the diverse flavors of each writer's journey.
Cathy Peterson and I have co-compiled an anthology by "vintage" Minnesotans. We are happy to present stories and poems written in conjunction with Guided Autobiography and Poetry Classes at Whitney Senior Center Saint Cloud, Minnesota. Within this book is a collection of hopes, dreams and reminiscences relatable to all. So pick up a copy and come along on our journey.
Sometimes the smallest moments make the biggest memories. We all have those shared times that seem like a blip in our lives. But, when we look back, those times were the memories when woven together, became a tapestry of our lives. My life and yours are full of moments that make our lives fuller and more enriched. Enjoy.

Memories & Musings
I was embroidering a flour sack towel. I had ironed on a black-lined transfer and was now filling in those lines. My friend joined me with her own embroidery. We had decided this year’s project would be stitching pictures on towels as Christmas gifts. We sat across from each other, filling in those black lines with color and stitches. Sometimes we sat in silence. Sometimes we chatted. Little by little, those strands of colored floss were lovingly woven into a picture telling the story of the stitcher and the giftee. The day was a story in itself—of friendship and embroidery, white towels and colored floss. A plain towel, finally bursting to life with a story. Two friends quietly sharing of themselves. A story of two.
