It’s easy to ask questions like: Who am I? Why am I here? Are you there, God?
It’s something altogether different to hear the answers to your questions. That requires silence and a willingness to listen.
You will not hear the voice of God until you make time to listen. That means pausing and taking a break from doing.
Modern people are addicted to doing. We keep ourselves busy to avoid examining what we’re doing or questioning why we’re living our lives the way we are. But, if you don’t make the time to examine what’s happening, you can’t question your assumptions, you can’t see your patterns, and you won’t hear the guidance you ask for.
Mystics break that addiction by setting aside time for not doing.
