I am where my attention is focused.
To be in the present moment as a human, I need to focus my attention where my body is: here.
My mind may want to wander off into thoughts of the past down memory lane or into a fantasy of some future world, but I chose to be here.
I chose to incarnate and experience life as a human on this planet.
To get the most of that experience it’s obvious that I need to focus my attention where my body is in the present moment.
It’s tempting to think that being spiritual is all about the inner journey or that it’s all about detaching from the world of form, the world of material things.
But that is not spirituality. It’s escapism.
Yes, it’s important to maintain an awareness of my connection to Source through prayer and meditation but that is not why I’m here.
I am here to experience being human.
And, to fully experience what it is to be human, I need to engage with life and participate in the human dimension of existence.
If I’m not doing that I’m only observing, and I could have done that without incarnating - but I am here.
