“Will you stop giving me World War II analogies? There’s no such parallel here. I think the Pentagon is right on the money with this.” President Tobin Holmes folded his arms. “Especially you, Tara. You’re supposed to underscore and carry out party policy, not question it. I mean what is a Secretary of State all about.”
“Mr. President and I mean no disrespect. I’ll tell you what it’s all about.” Tara Corbet took a deep breath. “First, you’re in the third year of your first term of office and second, the Pentagon sees things from a military perspective and not peace-oriented diplomacy.” She gulped from her frosted water glass. “The World War II advice from them suggests we draw tight lines between the Moslem countries and the rest of the globe on religious criteria. It’s war mongering. Just before World War II the world was divided into Allies and Axis powers–democracy and fascism–when war was imminent.”
