Dakin was now standing and looking out his window at the ocean waves crashing on his Ocean City beach frontage. “We were having pleasant social conversation until I brought up her probable Florida roots. She practically bolted.”
“Stay with her and try not to be threatening. When do you think you'll see her again?”
“Tonight.”
“Good. In the meantime, she's being watched and you'll probably see some strange spook-types around to see if someone's watching you. This is getting complicated since we know the terrorist lot has your identity from the Farsier affair. I want you to check in every day after your midnight Donut Shop sorties.”
“Will do.” Dakin held the cordless phone at his side as he thought of meeting with Adams again. The dorsal fins of a group of four dolphins broke the surface in the ocean about fifty yards from shore. He watched the fins appear and disappear as they swam in no particular hurry along the beach coast. The scene reminded him to likewise proceed along a natural course with Virginia Adams.
