Mercedes groaned. She cringed at the prospect of confrontation and found a stressed-out emoticon to use in her text before she typed her answer. I’m not adequate for this! People are ready to die on this hill to defend those things.
Her teacher responded. Are you refusing to engage in this obvious opportunity to serve Jesus? Who benefits from that?
Seconds ticked by as this question speared Mercedes’ soul. She and Jana had just been preaching to each other that Christians don’t focus on themselves, but on living for Jesus. He equips His people with what they need for the task set before them, regardless of whether they identify with it in their personality type.
Her texted response was a commitment. If that was a battle-cry, it worked. Thank you for the attitude change and the advice. Cover me in prayer for the next few days.
