She alone was in control of all the fishes, the whales, dolphins—all sea creatures. She was able to control the tides, cause tidal waves, wreak whatever havoc or peace she desired. Estelle was omnipotent in her strength.
At Weeki Wachee she no longer feared sea life. The fish swam from her in fear. The dolphins laughed because she willed it. The Nereids, the other mermaids, were there to cajole and entertain her. She was only part of their performance because they needed her; noble as she was, she gave of her time and energy.
