“Hey, baby. It’s Christmas Eve, and I got somethin’ for ya,” said Robert.
She giggled, and called out from the front porch, “What ya got for me Robert Phillips, a bag of switches?”
“No, much better than switches.” And he stopped to plant a kiss, along with that look that made her knees knock and her heart melt.
He tapped his right jean’s pocket. “Right here. Right here’s the gift. But you gotta wait ‘til after supper.”
It was almost impossible to wait.
“I can’t, let me have it now.”
“Nope. Gotta wait.” And he ducked inside.
“Hey, Mrs. Ingram, I‘ve been looking forward to that Christmas ham all day, thanks for inviting me over.”
And with that, Regina was forced to wait. And wait, and wait.
