The Origianis began looking for a new home outside the city of Los Angeles. They enjoyed living in the city, taking their short jaunt to work each day. With a child, however, they would have no time to go out at night and do ‘couples’ sort of activities in the city. They began looking at properties within a reasonable distance of LA and UCLA. There was a property over at the foot of the San Bernardino mountains which had been on the market for a while. From there the Hover Craft could get them to UCLA in a matter of minutes. They bought the property and were very fortunate to get it at a very low price. The previous year there had been an earthquake just to the west, between this property and Los Angeles. Just at the base of the mountain where this property lay, the ground was severely mangled. This damage had scared away potential buyers from the sale property. A beautiful house was nestled into the side of a hill. The front window looked out over the rough and torn ground of the earthquake zone. Vince’s father loved it, since he was a geologist. He thought how neat it was to get ‘up close and personal’ with an earthquake. Mario chuckled when he thought about this. Besides, with modern technologies, alarms would come in plenty of time if an earthquake was imminent. Their Hover Craft could take them straight up in a matter of seconds. He was excited about the prospect of teaching his child everything he knew about this wonderful earth and, sadly, the devastation that was being wrought upon it, both by nature and by man.
