When humanity cries out from atrocities heaped upon them on earth. Heaven hears their pleas. When the souls of those, who had been slain, called out and asked, ‘’Oh sovereign lord, how long until you avenge our blood, and judge the wicked inhabitants of the earth?” There was a moment’s pause, before the thunderous voice answered:
“The time has come.” In which one of the seven seals were opened and out came a living creature; holding a pair of scales in one hand, the other, wielding a large sword, his name… ‘Death’.

CHAPTER TWO
Douglas, heart thumping barbarously against his chest, rushed to the Vaughn’s residence following a radio-transmission that a homicide occurred there, dreading that Melinda had been harmed, his nerves settling after further elaboration revealed that it was her son, Robert.
Douglas and Melinda over the months had come to depend on one another for companionship, although they never anticipated such exchange between them given the fact their relationship only developed as some form of retribution after discovering their spouses were having an affair with one another, but quickly transitioned, finding themselves connecting on levels much more profound than physical.
What a quandary they shared. Douglas was married to Emily, but in love with Melinda; Melinda was married to Michael Vaughn, but in love with Douglas.
Divorce would have been their sought after resolution had they not been raising children with their deceitful mates.
Douglas climbed from his vehicle and headed over to the group of officers huddled outside the Vaughn’s dwelling.
“Morning sir.” Smith saluted.
“Morning.” Douglas relayed, bleakly.
“What happened here?”
“It’s unclear. Neither of the Vaughns had given a statement up to this point. They’re pretty shaken up…We do know they’ve been handcuffed to the radiator in their living room since Saturday morning, ten feet away from their son’s body.”
“How were they discovered?”
“The neighbor. She said when she came outside to retrieve Saturday’s newspaper, she noticed that.” Pointed Smith, directing Douglas’ attention to the large letter; ‘A’, engraved on the front door.
“She came to inform the Vaughn’s that most likely a neighborhood hoodlum vandalized their property, and as she pressed the doorbell, it swung open. That’s when she saw the boy laying dead.”
“Thanks.” Douglas served, studying the door a moment. Taking a deep breath, he made his way inside and saw Michael and Melinda sitting-dazed at the kitchen table being evaluated by paramedics. Crime scene technicians were in the living room dusting for prints, extracting particles of hair, and whatever else they could retrieve from the carpet’s fibers. The moment Douglas stopped before the table; Vaughn sprung to his feet without notice and tackled him.
The two six-foot frames crashed to the floor heavily, stunning personnel with the ferocity of their fight. Officers who were outside, hurried in to give assistance to detectives trying to separate them. Vaughn fought desperately to break free of the men’s hold.
“What the hell’s wrong with you?” Smith quizzed, his athletic stature working overtime to subdue Vaughn, who wasn’t speaking, just air stabbing his finger at Douglas in a threatening manner.
The deafening explosion rocked the house, startling everyone.
Vaughn and Douglas’ attention simultaneously moved to the chair Melinda had been perched in, and saw it vacant.
The men took the stairs, sprinting up three steps at a time, racing down the short hallway before Vaughn stopped abruptly at the bedroom’s threshold…Confirming the men’s fears…Melinda had ended her life with a single shot to the head.
