“Why did this happen?” I recall saying, “God, You could have stopped this! Why didn’t You?”
I was tormented and wrestled with unanswered questions like this for several weeks. How could I reconcile my husband’s suicide with the fact that God’s Son, Jesus, loved my husband enough to die for him? My husband had accepted Jesus as his Savior, and had lived his life desiring to serve Him. My husband closed his eyes on earth and opened them in Heaven!
“God loved the world so much that He gave His only Son, that everyone who has faith in Him may not die, but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to be its Judge, but to be its Savior.” (John 3:16, 17 GNT)
I concluded that a loving God chose not to stop the suicide. I don’t know why. What I do know is that God knows everything, including the day each of us will die.
“A person’s days are determined; You have decreed the number of his months and have set limits he cannot exceed.” (Job 14:5 NIV)
“You saw me before I was born. The days allotted to me had all been recorded in Your book before any of them ever began.” (Psalm 139:16 GNT)
