Henry stood up. “Mom, when I’m on stage or mixing beats, I feel energized! I feel alive! I feel happy! Don’t you want me to be happy?”
“Family makes you happy! When you get married and have kids, how are you going to support them?”
He looked at the ground. “I make money DJing!”
“How much?”
“Um…I made $500 at a bar mitzvah.” He looked up at me and smiled proudly. “And I sell my beats on iTunes. I call myself HamilDown.”
“And what’s the most you made on iTunes?”
“Uh…There’s this one…it’s my favorite…”
“How much did you make?”
“Uh…$15?”
Kevin stayed planted on the sofa. “Son, only a handful of musicians ever made any money from their music. And most of them are dead.”
