I will die tonight. I need no oracle to predict it, no dreamwalker to reveal it. The moon and the stars sing of it, and the sun calls me home. Yet like my grandfather before and after me, I must write my story before I can set off on this final journey. Unlike Toshar, though, I know to which realms I travel...to which I gladly return. Nor do I carry Toshar’s reluctance to share my saga with you. I do it willingly, and the words of my SunQuest flow with ease from quill to parchment in my anticipation of what next awaits me.
My name, for those who do not yet know it, is Ben, and I am twice aged...just as I have twice lived and twice served as Elderbard of Q’ntana. To have lived twice is not exceptional. To have lived twice with the same body and name is rare. To have lived once at the beginning of time and once again at its endpoint is unprecedented. But, then, little of this SunQuest is commonplace.
