I learned that my right shoulder was dislocated and my right humerus bone was broken near the shoulder. The physician assistant did a quick and impressive manipulation to put the shoulder back into place, and I was sent home with a pain medication prescription and instructions to see an orthopedic surgeon.
At the time of this book’s publication, I exercise to build strength, and I’m optimistic I will gain strength and stay active for the long haul, so I can continue to play golf, ride a bike, swim laps, play pickleball, straighten my hair, and possibly sweep a floor again. No rush for the latter!
I’m sharing this falls story not for a sympathy vote but rather to illustrate how knowledge did not translate into a behavior change for me.
