The following day, as we stand talking with the interior designer, a tall brown-haired man walks up. He’s introduced as the carpenter who’s been assigned to the project. His accent immediately gives him away.
“E’ Italiano? You’re Italian?” Eugenio asks with glee.
“Si, mi chiamo Carlo. Yes, my name’s Carlo.”
“Well, I can see that this is going to be a great relationship.” The interior designer looks from one to the other. “Just remember, that although you can pretty much decide how you want to fit out the shop, there are a couple of things you can’t do. These are business premises and there are certain standards. Just run anything unusual by me first, hmm?”
