Some famous person said something like, “Christmas is not a time or a season, but a state of mind.” I’m not sure who said it, but it’s true. I’d also add, Christmas is not a place. It can be wherever that state of mind takes you. This year the holiday has been really screwed up if you only judge it by the things like being home, opening gifts, stuffing your face, and being surrounded by relatives.
I have no home, we didn’t manage to get any real gifts, and my closest relative is in prison. Christmas day comes whether you’re ready or not.
The best thing about this Christmas is I’ll have a home, the only gift I cared about was Declan being released from the hospital, and when you get right down to it, you can decide who’s your family.
