CORY STOOD IN front of the full-length mirror, grabbed and held back the excess flesh at the top of her thighs, and studied the effect.
“See, this is how they should look.” She cocked her head. “If I could lose the weight right here, it would be perfect.”
She twisted around to check if her sister was listening. Jessica didn’t look up. She lounged on one of the twin beds in their room, flipping through a dance magazine.
“That’s it. I’m starting a diet tomorrow,” Cory said, releasing her captive thighs. She sat on her bed facing Jessica. “You don’t believe me.”
Jessica closed the magazine and looked up at her older sister.
“I believe you’ll start tomorrow.” She swung her legs—her long, thin legs—over the edge of the bed and sat up. “It’s just that you never finish anything.”
