“Forget the floor. You just dropped a bomb that you’re pregnant but don’t know for sure, and here you are, on top of this, worried because…” He stopped talking. Of course she could tell he was irritated with her. “I’m not getting it, Em. Is it that you don’t want any more kids? Is that what you’re saying?” He moved closer to her, stopping just in front of her. This time, by the way he held himself back, she could see how her bringing up all her unresolved issues had tossed him a curveball. He was taking it all wrong.
