Old toys, furniture, a wooden sewing form, and coat racks were scattered across the long, narrow attic floor. They stacked papers and junk stuffed into cardboard boxes near the stairs where it would wait to be sorted. Wardrobes, cedar chests, and trunks lined the walls.
“I want to keep it all,” said Rexie. She loved anything old.
Mom loved antiques and “items with history” as she dubbed them. But today, she said, “The auctioneers can take what’s left.”
