Oh, yes, women are in a relationship with their breasts. This is not a new or modern phenomenon. There is a long history here, and it has nothing to do with men or the male gaze.
Our breasts are a manifestation of our power, our unique attributes, our fertility, and our ability to feed our young. But as women have always known—from the single-breasted Amazonians to the World Cup winning female soccer players—when it comes to being active, to being athletic, our relationship with our breasts can suddenly come to the forefront in a whole new way. I was just another participant in my relationship with my breasts during the cultural tumult of the late 20th century. The important bit is that I listened to my intuition and in acting upon it, enlisted help in the areas that I needed it.
