Bactericide - Bactericide essential oils are antimicrobials chosen specifically for their ability to kill or severely weaken bacteria. Bactericidal essential oils can be employed as either disinfectants, which are only used on nonliving surfaces, or as antiseptics, which are applied directly to living tissues like skin. And though the oral use of essential oils is controversial, some bactericidal essential oils are also used as antibiotics. Many, and perhaps most, essential oils have some antibacterial actions.
