Mark 1:15
"The time promised by God has come at last!" he announced. "The Kingdom of God is near! Repent of your sins and believe the Good News!"
Beloved: Father, I haven’t thanked You or many others of late. I choke on the words. Open my heart and my mouth. I don’t like to admit sin because that is admitting weakness and failure. But I am weak, and I have failed, and I am afraid.
Lover: Believe the good news. There is help, hope, and forgiveness. Experience it and share it. I love you as you are and see you as you will be.
1Since we have been made right with God by our faith, we have peace with God. This happened through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2who has brought us into that blessing of God’s grace that we now enjoy. And we are happy because of the hope we have of sharing God’s glory. 3We also have joy with our troubles, because we know that these troubles produce patience. 4And patience produces character, and character produces hope. 5And this hope will never disappoint us, because God has poured out his love to fill our hearts. He gave us his love through the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to us.
(Romans 5:1-5, NCV)
“Repentance…requires two things: humility and trust. Repentance requires the humility involved in the confession that I am a sinner, one whose life is not whole and who lacks the power both to find either the direction to wholeness or the resources for wholeness on my own. Repentance requires trust in a power that can and will ultimately sustain and establish me if I let go of myself into that power’s hands. Without both trust and humility, repentance is impossible.”
