How to pray for those in despair
Do you feel helpless in the face of floods, fires, drought, famine, war? It all seems too much to bear, and it is very easy to fall into despair. Using God's own Word, we pray for those facing despair - others or ourselves. We need hope to get through times of trouble, and that is what God offers in abundance. As the all-powerful God, there is nothing he can't overcome. What's more, God's forgiveness is unlimited. Yes, even in times of trial, we can have hope.

Despair
O LORD, we cry out to you for those in the depths of despair. Help them! Hear their cry. Pay attention to their pleas for mercy. LORD, if you kept a record of sins, who could ever survive? But you offer forgiveness so that we might learn to fear you. Those in despair are counting on you; yes, we are all counting on you. We are waiting for your help, more than sentries who long for the dawn, yes, more than watchmen who wait for sunrise.
O LORD, may those in despair find hope in you, for with you there is unlimited forgiveness. Rescue us all from every kind of trouble.
LORD, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
