In the Wake of Tragedy
We grieve with the families and friends who lost loved ones in the recent mass shootings in NY and CA. Whatever the cause, the results for those left behind are much the same: fear, sorrow, loss, anger, emptiness, helplessness. As we pray for these experiencing loss, and for ourselves as we debate what to do, let's ask God to provide a sense of safety. Only God can calm the storms raging about us, only God can change the hearts of people filled with hate. May God bring us to a place of safety and peace.

Safety
L ORD, in the midst of all that is going on right now, we feel as if we are in a storm at sea: tossed to the heavens one moment only to be plunged to the depths the next. We cringe in terror and are at our wits’ end.
We cry out to you, “LORD, HELP!” We are trusting that you will save us from our distress, calm this storm raging about us, and bring us to a place of safety and peace.
When that happens, may we remember to give you the praise and honor that you deserve.
LORD, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
