Am I just fooling myself?
We like to think we are good people, doing our best in the midst of challenges. But are we? Or are we fooling ourselves? Do we hope God won't notice when we say we are innocent, but know we are guilty? Will God overlook that lie or lustful thought or angry response or the claim that we are self-made? Our pride gets us into all kinds of trouble, so now is a good time to confess our misdeeds, ask for forgiveness and prepare our hearts for the celebration of Easter.

Prayers of Confession for Lent
Pride
If we claim we have not sinned,
we are just fooling ourselves
and not living in the truth.
So, LORD,
help us to own up to our sins,
confess them to you,
and be forgiven.
Cleanse us from al wickedness.
Don’t let us call you a liar
by claiming we have not sinned,
for that would mean
that your Word has no place in us.
LORD, in your mercy, hear our prayer.
