Only - I was too tired to fly any higher. The sharp rocky peaks loomed over me. I had to land, right on a sharp point jutting out of the crumbling mountainside.
“Two breaths,” Kitty said, pointing back.
I looked over my shoulder, on all fours, too tired to turn fully. The two small figures were now running at an impossible speed. The predators had seen the prey fall.
“Up, Dana, up!” Kitty did not let go of my hand.
