“Forgive, but don’t forget, girl. Keep ya head up, and when he tells you, you ain’t nothing, don’t believe him, and if he can’t learn to love you, you should leave him.”
“Hey Zax, Flynn’s mom here. I wanted to let you know that Flynn was in an accident and has been admitted to the hospital. He fractured his right femur and has cracked ribs. Right before they put him under for operation, he called out your name. Rey and Daphne were with him, returning from Acacia’s birthday party. It would mean a lot if you could come down here to keep him company. Thanks.”
In a state of shock, Zax left the message blinking on his phone screen. He was bent over, clutching his knees, trying to breathe.
Zax couldn’t get the mental image of Flynn out of his mind, in the hospital bed with IVs hooked up to him, possibly fighting for his life. There was an intense fear like he had never felt before, that clutched his heart. He could not even get past the part which read that Flynn had been in an accident. Immediately, he felt his heartbeat elevate. As an elite athlete, this feeling of panic and anxiety was utterly alien to him. Unable to think straight, Zax just tried to stabilize his heart rate by taking deep cleansing breaths.
