"I can't believe you bought that underwear." Carrie popped a pub chip in her mouth. Alexa nibbled on her lettuce. "Or that you came to the Grenadier and ordered a salad."
“I doubled up on fried food at dinner last night. I need to give my body a break.”
“This is one of the most famous pubs in England. Look at this burger. This is an art piece. That,” Carrie flicked a manicured fingertip at Alexa’s plate, “is a serving of sadness.”
Alexa snickered. “They already have the ghost of one dead patron here. They don’t need another after I keel over from a heart attack.”
Once an officers’ mess hall for the a royal regiment, the pub gained its name after the British defeated the French Grenadiers at Waterloo and the regiment added “Grenadier” to its title. Legend had it that a man killed for cheating at cards haunted its well-worn rooms.
