Sonora poured more brandy into their glasses. “Amy, you’re fifty years old, and I’m just over sixty. Twenty years ago, when Vince was looking for the gold, so were others. But today, the search for gold is a worldwide phenomenon. Only God knows how many searches are going on today in Germany by every political splinter group.”
Amy looked at her aunt. “I won’t feel like a failure if I don’t find the gold. But I have to try.” She paused for a moment. “I honestly think it’s out there. It’s lost. By looking, I feel I can validate all the work Vince did. Does that make sense?”
Sonora smiled. “Yes, it does. And Amy, I’ll do what I can to help you.” She picked up the map and the journal. “So many groups and individuals looking for the gold. In today’s market, if found, it has to be worth over a billion dollars.”
