The storm hit hours earlier than predicted. The city of Miami, normally bustling and filled with life, was vacant, dark, and dead. The wind ripped around and up and over the high-rise jungle that was Miami. Ileana seemed to delight in the towering buildings, using the narrow paths between them to her advantage to gain even more speed. As she played in the concrete jungle, she learned the taller the building, the faster her speed as she raced to reach the top. Sparks flew high in the air as she gleefully ripped the conduits of electricity from the ground and watched their wires snap like dry twigs.
As Ileana showed off wind speeds never before experienced, she unleashed her other tool of destruction, suction, on the inside of every building. She caused internal walls to crumble like dried crackers, and the building skeletons to shake and moan and twist in ways even the best architects and engineers had never imagined and so had not planned for. Windows popped loudly as they were sucked out. Glass crashed and shards flew about like deadly bullets looking to impale anything in their path. Pipes burst, elevators flooded, and roofs were uplifted only to take flight and land miles away on unsuspecting buildings and cars. As the eye of the storm closed in on Miami, it looked like the end of the world.
