I was feeling out of sorts today, totally distracted from anything other than the arrangement in front of me and the circle of names I couldn’t seem to get out of my head.
Jack and Lisa Piedmont.
Rhiannon Simons.
Angel Wright.
And then of course there was Viv.
All she had told me was that she’d received a call from David a few nights ago. She didn’t elaborate, but the far-off look in her eyes as she loaded the van with deliveries told me her mind was swimming with memories of the past. Vivian hadn’t divulged a whole lot about David Coburn, but it wasn’t hard to tell just how much he’d meant to her. My heart ached for my best friend. It was so unbelievably hard for her to let anyone past the barriers she had set up around every emotional bone in her body. Only I could see that she was aching for them to be knocked down.
