Now months after the election, more people are resisting and joining new groups in their communities and online. Now it is important to organize and mobilize the groups to focus on the hard work of change. For many people, it is frustrating, disappointing, and devastating to hear the daily news on the television networks. Many people feel lost and do not know what to do.
I AM AN OPTIMIST
During my journey, I have lost faith in many different organizations and institutions that I previously trusted, the mainstream media, global corporations, elected officials, our two-party system, and more. But, I have not lost hope. I believe in the people, now more than ever. I believe we have the power to organize together in our neighborhoods and our communities. We have the tools to fight back. We have the power of numbers to get out the vote and restore our democracy. We have the "power of the people" to fight the special interest groups focused on profits over people.
I also believe we can harness the power of the digital revolution, the Internet, the digital platforms, and mobile communities to organize, mobilize, and educate. We the people can organize around the most important issues and work together on solutions to solve our problems for our families, for equality, and save our planet. We can organize in our communities and online to join together with other people to fight for democracy, freedom of speech, human rights, and for each other.
Ten years ago, the Apple iPhone with launched and the world has changed dramatically with billions of people connecting and interacting with each other online in the digital era. Digital social media platforms and mobile smart devices from Apple, Samsung, and others have changed everything in dramatic ways since I began my journey. Not only is technology rapidly accelerating the way we connect, communicate, and collaborate, but also the innovations are changing all aspects of our lives. Changes in our world are happening faster than ever and in many ways, creating a sense of chaos and uncertainty. During the past couple of years my confidence and trust in many institutions and organizations have decreased, but at the same time, my faith in people has never been stronger.
I am an optimist, and my belief in the people that I have met on this journey has increased exponentially. I realize that it is the power of the people, of creative and innovative ideas, and communities working together that will make a difference. Also, the technology platforms can also play a role addressing the challenges in our communities, our country, and around the world if we prioritize the issues and seeks solutions. I am an optimist for people and our planet.
We can share the power of our creative ideas in our local communities, at local public libraries and community centers. We can scale these best practices anywhere with the global Internet that is available to share, communicate and interact with people, in our neighborhoods and around the world. All of us together.
