“The legend goes that a frontier family built a house out in the woods in the early 1700’s. And their little boy Bobbit found the rock while exploring one day. He climbed to the very top… and fell. The early settlers were very superstitious. After his death, they surmised that the rock was cursed. They believed that the Devil lived in the rock and when God cast him out of Heaven; that’s where he landed, splitting it in two. So when little Bobbit got to the top of the rock…” Isaac leans forward and bores his eyes into Doctor Brady’s.
“He saw the Devil.”
“And so he jumped…” Doctor Brady finished.
“Wouldn’t you?” Isaac retorted. Doctor Brady cleared his throat and shuffled uncomfortably. Isaac chuckled dryly.
“The rock has claimed so many lives. You know the nursery rhyme that kids used to sing right? God, my grandmother hated it. Care to recite the tune?” Doctor Brady didn’t respond. Isaac shrugged his shoulders and started the rhyme.
“Round and round The Bobbit Rock. Got to climb to the top. Once you make it to end. The Wretched Man will be your friend!”
