Over supper, Andrew unburdened himself. He described how Norman Stock had forbidden him to publish his research on Ricksted Syndrome and he had been outvoted on the matter at the departmental meeting.
‘Only Tim Davis didn’t vote against me. After all the hard work Neil Barnard and I have done ………’
‘Perhaps Norman had a point darling. The media and the general public could easily get overexcited with parents of autistic children insisting that their child has been misdiagnosed.’
‘So you think I should just give up too. Thanks a lot!’
‘That’s not what I mean. Of course you mustn’t give up,’ said Sophie, ‘Take Norman at his word. More cases and showing him that you are determined should get you there shouldn’t it?’
