DOGS CAN BE EXCEEDINGLY AMUSING. Their general zeal and zest for living can be quite infectious. Whether it’s a tiny Lhasa apso threatening a cat twice its size or a Great Dane being ridden by small children, dogs provide a mobile entertainment system on four legs. And dogs can find humans just as entertaining.
Watson loved it when we spoke to him in a funny voice … which was often. Initially, he’d perk up at the sound of funny talk from his persons. In his mind, when his persons sounded funny, it meant bone time. It didn’t take long before he’d be amped up and charging around the house in hot pursuit of his rubber bone. This cause and effect relationship quickly turned into a consistent routine we called “Mr. Hyper Pants.”
Once he’d found his bone, Watson would charge up to us, his backside flailing wildly back and forth, elation on his wide brow. He’d growl in reply to our funny voices, daring us to seize his bone. Which we did, while using a funny voice. Delighted mayhem would ensue.
