I don't want to leave Tahoe. I love the quiet, the stillness. The unhurried pace, the lushness, the crisp air. The majestic mountains and shimmering lake put my heart at peace. Dare I say, it feels like home?
I've spent the morning at the waters edge with Xavier and my camera. The Townsend’s have a dock on their property and a little stretch of beach. Xavier turned the camera on me once, but I don't particularly enjoy being the subject.
Now it's time to go back up to the house and say goodbye. The thought puts a lump in my throat. What is it about this place that keeps making me teary?
"Why do I feel like I’m marching toward the guillotine?" I ask Xavier as we wipe off our sandy feet and start up the path.
