The Struggles and Growth of a Man

My Potential

My life has been a lot of turmoil and hard times,

You start to doubt your reasoning for living.

There’s always one person who cares about you,

And that’s all it takes a lot of times.

It wasn’t even within my bloodlines except my brother,

It was a man who took me under his wing and molded me into a better person.

I didn’t know what my potential was at all,

It wasn’t because of the environment I grew up in,

It was the people around me who didn’t instill confidence in me.

I’m finally realizing my potential as a man and it feels great,

I feel I can jump into the sky and be amongst the clouds now.

My life was buried underground in a cemetery of dead people,

But I’ve risen by the graces of the man above and others.

Sometimes people need motivation, inspiration and drive,

 Then, you have to want to change for the better, that’s the key.

I didn’t love myself at all when I was doing all of the wrong things,

And neither did many people who had me doing illegal activities.
